Hello all, welcome! I suppose I should tell you the reasoning behind the blog (simple as it is), and the area in which I ride, simply to get a point of reference.
Last week, I took a short ride out to my parents' house, and posted photos of it on www.bikeforums.net, in the Classic and Vintage forum. I found that it went over really well, and everyone appreciated the scenery. Well, today I was considering a brew-up and a book out in my favorite of places, so I got the idea to take these weekly excursions and put them into a blog. I figure SOMEBODY'S gotta have an interest, right?
The area I ride is around the Culver Academies, and frequently through the campus and around the lake that it's on (Maxinkuckee). It's mostly sandy terrain, and has really great weather and scenery for most of the year. It's my hope that this blog shows a continuation of the seasons through the region.
The bikes (a full post on this will be coming later) are a '67 Phillips Sports and a '51 Raleigh Lenton Tourist. The Lenton is going to need some serious work done, and I'll be covering maintenance and repair details on these bikes as well as the photos. If you're lucky, I might throw in some info about the other bikes in my stable, but the nature of the 3 speeds simply allow for more photos and reflection than, say, my Cannondale racing bike...
